Travel Diaries: Chick-fil-A Territory

We rolled by 8am this morning. 6 adults, 6 kids (7 months to 13 years), trailer, boat trailer, bike trailer, and 10 bikes.

One of my favorite things about vacations is entering Chick-fil-A Territory. We stopped there for lunch. Yessss.

The kids loved the Giant Cow standing out by the highway advertising Cow Appreciation Day (July 10th). the sign said

Dress like me
Git Free Chicken

If you go in to Chick-fil-A dressed like a cow tomorrow, you’ll get a free meal. If you only wear a cow hat – you still get a free entree! We are definitely going back tomorrow. Anybody in the Cincinati area got a cow costume for me to borrow? Even a white sheet and a permament marker will do. I love Chick-fil-A. (have you had their chicken tender Caesar salad?) And I love their advertising campaign.

Claire loved their lawn. Every chance I got I threw her play quilt down on a patch of grass and gave her a little wiggle time before strapping her into the car seat again. We were 12 hours on the road (including stops). The kids were great.

… and Claire loved the Queen sized bed when we finally to the hotel. Day One of Vacation – so far, so good.

Alas, there were no chick-fil-as in the cities we were in during meal times. 🙁

Persuaded – the neatest thing about chick-fil-a is that they close on Sundays to honor the Lord's day. Despite only being open 6 days a week, they are the second largest chicken fast food chain in the country. They are more numerous through the south, though.

Naomi, good for you! Did you even dress up Jonah? We want to see pictures. 🙂

I'm grateful to my BIL for letting me use is 'puter – I do love blogging – even or especially on vacation, especially when I have great pictures to blog with. 🙂

When we went for Cow Appreciation Day, we just cut head wholes in white garbage bags (dollar store) and taped black paper spots to them (actually, I think it was white paper we colored black)

    Cheap and cute!
