From the couch in the living room you get a clear view of my studio – one of the reasons I really wanted the space to be tidy looking!
For one to appreciate the improvements I made in the last few days, one must glimpse (briefly, please) a before photo. Painful, I know.
I swear this is the same room! ๐ I spent all day on Monday (and nearly put myself into labor!), assembling the drawer units, scooching stuff around, and clearing surfaces.
“A place for everything, and everything in its place” really is the secret to a productive workspace. These bins and the shelves my husband built me make it as easy as possible to tidy up after a project. I have no excuses now! The bins are organized by project, mostly (“Baby Bibs“, “Knits and Jerseys”, “Aprons”, etc.) making it easy to pull out a bin and work on a project in even the smallest windows of free time.
More storage for large projects – spinning supplies and larger chunks of fabric.
I know this looks extravagant. Three sergers and three sewing machines in one room. They like me – or my studio, I guess! Actually, only one of the sergers is mine, the others are on loan from friends as mine is currently not working. All three sewing machines are mine, however – I’ve tried to build up a good army of them for the day when I will begin teaching sewing lessons.
On the left wall is my treadle sewing machine, which I am using as a stand right now for one of my electric machines. The broad, empty counter top is an old door, beckoning me to spread out my next project!
Little bits of inspiration can be found here and there in the room. I can hardly wait for my next window of opportunity in which to create! I’m not expecting that to happen till New Baby is at least 6 weeks old, just so you know – but it is lovely to have the space all ready for those little, precious moments that are sure to pop up here and there if I manage my time well!
What a beautiful home you have!
I have just found your blog (through Passionate Homemaking) and I love it.
We are pregnant with our first child (10 weeks) and I too dream of making her clothes. ๐
Your blog is a place of inspiration and encouragement for me. Thank you!
I think my bloglines is slow, I haven't seen any of these recent posts. odd.
anyway, love the new look, pulling the workspace out really looks like it will make it easier to work in there. I only wish my studio was as well organized, stocked, and spacious!
It looks so inviting, and makes me want to start crafting again…
What a wonderful room!! It is so organized!!
Oooooo I Love your studio!!!What a Great room. That is such an inspiration.Someday I hope to have a room like that.I would also love to visit and craft with you sometime.:)
It looks fantastic! I wish we had the space for a room like this! Someday I am determined I will have! Meanwhile I should really get around to organizing and cleaning the space which I DO have… I feel inspired now! ๐ And I really like the idea of storing everything in different bins like you have! That's a great idea!
I saw the three sergers and my heart skipped a beat before I read that only one was yours! I know I wouldn't use one much, but I'd still love to have one! Your studio looks fabulous as well!
