My small town has a habit. Not sure it’s a good one. ๐ Every year, for the past 4 years, it has a community garage sale. The first one was really good! Ever street in town had 2 or 3 yards full of – treasures! Everyone had gone from attic to cellar and items that hadn’t seen the the light of day in years were out in the open for people to see them sparkle. But…each year since then, there have not been as many sales, and…well, it just seems like everyone is trading around each other’s junk. ๐
Nevertheless, it is a beautiful day me and the kiddos will be heading out this morning after chores with our sails up. Actually, we’ll be in the bikes. Our bike trailer works great for local garage sailing – it’s faster than walking, and you can fit quite a bit of loot in the back. Who knows what we will find? Last year I found the 2×3 foot mirror I have in my livingroom for $3! I also found some fly swatters for 25 cents each. They snapped the first time we killed a fly with them – they must have been 40 years old. ๐
Trina….from what I can see from your pictures, your house is tastefully and tactifully decorated! I am amazed at how you can turn one persons junk into a family treasure!
One of the newer big suburban housing developments here in Denver has an unofficial community yard/garage sale weekend every May. (Hmm…must be coming up!) We went year before last and found some nice stuff! Lots of outdated-but-useful scrapbooking hardware…there was even a Mary Kay consultant who was getting out of the business and selling all her stuff for $1 or $2! You’ve reminded me how much fun it was…we’ll have to go again this year!
i am the odd bug… i really don’t care so much for yard sales. i love the good buys.. but maybe too much! i’m always afraid i’ll spend too much *blush*
