Celebrating Fall – Making Cider!

On Saturday my in-laws cranked up their beautiful cider press and made a batch of cider with apples from the orchard I visited a few weeks ago.

My smiling and diligent brother-in-laws, Isaiah and Nathanael

Joanna sharing cider with the daughter of a coal customer (they set up the press in the coal bagging building)

Anja, Anneke, and Judah stopped in to see the fun and lent a hand. Anneke is helping empty the trays of squished apple mush. Elise was trying to get us all to sample the leavings, but I was happy to let them be dumped in the bucket loader! ๐Ÿ™‚

Anja (glad to see Jesse after two 1/2 weeks) was trying to get him to help throw apples into the press. Every time she handed him one, he tried to eat it instead. ๐Ÿ™‚
We made over 60 gallons of cider, and are enjoying sipping it at every meal! ๐Ÿ™‚
I love Fall!

Ok that sounds like a lot of fun but we need more pictures of that cider press!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ My first thought was, "I wonder what type of press they have?" and I can't see it all that well in the pictures :p
