I have discovered that the only way to get things done with a two year old around is to do them together. Yes, it takes more time, and can be more work, yet there can be even greater mess and mischief done if the Child is left to himself! Having him help accomplishes so many things, not the least of which is that I know right where he is and what he is doing the whole time. Having him start helping at a young age allows a healthy work ethic to develop while he still thinks it’s all a game. ๐
Here’s what we did together the other day…
:: ate breakfast
:: did a puzzle
:: drank water (simultaneously – that brought smiles:))
:: read a book
:: put away laundry (he does the washcloths and his socks)
:: washed dishes
:: put away toys
:: watched his Signing Time video (this time he did nearly all the signs in the video as we watched!)
:: burped our babies (he with a doll, me with Claire – that was so fun)
:: took a nap
:: and finally, we made cookies for Daddy. He stirred (being reminded to be careful and stir slowly), scooped flour into the mixing bowl, and added the chocolate chips. Together we sampled the chocolate chips…then the dough…then we enjoyed cookies and milk together at the kitchen table with daddy. It was a yummy evening.
That looks like SO much fun – I love cooking with little ones! ๐
