Table Makeover

Oh, it had gotten so bad. The plastic table cloth I was using to protect our stolen Stickely dinning room table was wearing out. It was stretched out and stained and it had a hole that Claire kept stuffing food into…

It took me forever to get around to replacing it ’cause I used to buy the plastic by the yard at walmart, but now our dear local walmart (and every other walmart in driving distance) has be come a super store that no longer carries it. Drip, drip, drip (oh, pardon me, let me turn the sarcasm off…)

Ok, I’m back. I was expressing my frustration to my friend Rachel, and she said, “Call my mom! Her walmart still has a fabric section!” So, I did, and a week later at Church, dear Mrs. G- had brought me what I needed to give my dinning room a makeover.

While I was changing the table cover, I traded out the table cloth, too, from green to this lovely rainbow plaid. I’m not usually a fan of rainbow OR plaid, but somehow this table cloth sings my song.

To help the table cloth stay in place, hold up to repeated wipings, and hopefully look better longer, I duct taped the whole thing in place. I highly recommend this. Don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner. Ridiculously easy to wipe the table now. Won’t even discuss the ‘before’.

The Main Reason we have to have a plastic table cloth waits patiently for her breakfast. Three cheers for a cheery dinning room! Thanks, Mrs. G.

Walmart sells it by the yard–fabric supply stores have it too

The walmarts in Binghamton and Oneonta still carry fabric (specifically the clear plastic) too.

Glad you were able to save some sanity with the duct tape and plastic ๐Ÿ™‚

I love the fabric and the clear plastic is a great idea with kids. It looks much nicer than just a plastic tablecloth.
