Well, once again we turn to our faithful blog readers for help. We recently sold our little red car and got ourselves a vehicle with a little more room. I have decided she needs a name – we can’t just call it ‘the truck’ ’cause there are a lot of black trucks around and it would be confusing.
(Trust me – she must have a name – my family has always named inanimate objects and appliances and vehicles – don’t look at me weird – it’s very helpful! Like when you have two wood stoves in the house – you name them so you can know which one you’re talking about when the stove needs feeding – “Albert need’s wood!” or “Please feed Emma!”)
So, she is a black suburban and I want a fun black-person name for her – you know, like Mofika, or Sasha – or something like that. If you have suggestions – even if it’s not an authentic African-American sounding name, please post it in a comment and help us out!
And, for those who want a little more info on our new vehicle – um, it’s black, and it’s a suburban – that’s all I can give you – you know this is not my strong point – I don’t know model or make or milage or the kind of engine. ๐ Like our last vehicle, it’s one that’s been rebuilt after being totalled in an accident. When I first saw it in the shop it was completely gutted and had no front end! It’s all fixed now and we really like it.
DESTINY…. MY HUSBAND SAYS THAT’S A COLORED PERSON’S NAME BUT I LIKE IT.
I like the suggested name of “Harriet” aka Harriet the Chariot.
I can’t stop laughing about this whole idea. I’m thinking… Rosa. (Rosa Parks) It’s nice and short and rolls off the tongue. Plus I like female names for cars.
How about NOT mofika!!! Nuff said eh Treen ๐
How about Aunt Jemima ๐
I thought of a better name. Agent. You know how the secret service people use black vehicles. Yeah, Agent would be cool.
Mom thinks you should name it Harriet in honor of Harriet Tubman!!
great suggestions, everyone! keep it up! ๐>Hi, Elisabeth! Glad you stopped by!

We call ours the Burb. I was talking to a dad that I babysit for and we were talking about vehicles and I said something about The Burb. He’s like what did you just say, so I repeat myself and explained what I was talking about.
My parents have had 3 different suburbans. We usually just called them the Burban ๐ How about Aaliyah? Or Reba?
