May’s vacation highlights would not be complete without mention of a very special detour we made on the way to Myrtle Beach. My friend, Sarah, lives in NC – we have known each other since she was 10 and I was 12, back when I lived in NC before moving to NY. We have only seen eachother a 1/2 dozen times in the 15 years since I moved, the last time being when I attended her wedding 5 years ago. Now we are both married and both have 3 children.
It’s hard to express how special it was to introduce our little families to each other, to share lunch, and watch our children play together just as we had as girls so many years ago.
Sarah with her two daughters, and me with Claire (and Baby Bump). What sweet, sweet moments.
When I came home I wanted to send a little gift as a thank you for the lovely afternoon we had spent together. Many years ago Sarah had sewed us each matching ‘prairie girl’ dresses which we wore when we were together, and made us think of each other when apart…I thought how fun it would be to make her an apron that matched my own favorite that I wore each day in my kitchen, so we could think of each other though miles apart. I sent this Emmeline Apron off last week…hope she likes it. ๐
The apron is reversible, and a similar pattern can be found here…http://www.sewliberated.com/patterns.html#spb
I love the materiel that you used! Very bright and looks like it will hide messes well!:)
Just a wonderful post Trina ….And that was a great gift idea! She will definetely think of you every time she reaches for that apron. It's bound to bring a smile to her face ๐
