Letting the boy help.

Letting the boy help around the house usually makes the job take twice as long. So, why do I do it?

Because he LOVES helping mommy, and if we can keep encouraging that attitude, when he is actually capable, I’m gonna have such a little helper!

I swept the kitchen floor with my broom, and he worked at sucking up the pile with our electric sweeper. Oh, so proud of himself.

He dearly loves helping with the laundry, but since I taught him how to throw dirty laundry in the hamper, and clean laundry in drawers…well, he is confused, and we never know where he’s going to put things.

Here he is emptying the drier for me – bringing me the clean clothes so I can fold them. I encourage him and praise him all along, and don’t let him quit before his little chores are finished. And believe it or not, it’s the highlight of his day to help his mommy. ๐Ÿ™‚

If you didn't let him help, you wouldn't have the opportunity for so many cute photos! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Seriously though, by being patient and letting him help now while it's fun, you're setting him up for life! A boy who knows how to clean is a gem ;o)

I have always found it funny how little kids want to help do things around the house. Matthew used to do what Jesse does and now that he is older he really can be a help!

I think it's a great idea! We did it with both of my youngest siblings and they still love to help. The baby is only 2 but she gets the idea and Luke is 6 now so he can be a huge help! And you're right, they love it ๐Ÿ™‚
