The Blues

Ahh, it is a gray, rainy, chilly April day – just the sort of day I was in the mood for. With the sun hiding anyway, I don’t mind pulling the shades so Jesse and I can watch movies. A movie is a good way to keep me from getting too busy – helps me to feel I am accomplishing something even when I am just sitting on the couch. If you haven’t got the impression, I love a full schedule, a well-crossed off to-do list, and something to show for at the end of the day. The rest required when I am pregnant sometimes wears on me.
But today I am content to watch movies all day, though I admit I have been puddering around more than sitting. The movie is an old, familiar favorite – “Sarah, Plain, and Tall”, so I have been washing dishes, getting a little done on the computer, and starting dinner. While Jesse took a morning nap, I wandered into the studio to attempt a request from my husband. He has long wanted a cloth welding hat such as I have made in the past for my brother. I don’t have a pattern, nor the old one of Joel’s around to copy, so I did an image search on google and gradually recalled how I had made it before…less than an hour later it was finished – why had I procrastinated? It may be a little small, but I’ve got the shape right, so if a lunch break fitting proves it doesn’t fit, I’ll make another this afternoon, and Jesse can wear the first one. ๐Ÿ™‚
He enjoyed modeling it, but then asked me to put the camera away and give him some yogurt. ๐Ÿ™‚

The other thing I created this week was a little basket for a friend who is having a baby boy. Anja helped me when I went to spend the day at my mother’s on Tuesday. I spun the wool that I wove into one side. I love weaving, and enjoyed the afternoon spent with Anja, chatting and creating something so cute and fun to package and send across the country to help a friend celebrate the new life in their family.

So, you see, I have the blues, but not in a bad way!
