Hey, I liked the itemized list idea so much, I’m doing it again! It’s been a while since I really sat down and ‘chatted’ with all of our friends here at the blog and told them what was going on with me, so here it goes…
This is a real blessing and an answer to prayer!

2. Convention- Here We Come! This weekend is the N.Y.S. Homeschool Convention. Attending is tradition in the Holden family, since they have been intricately involved with convention for many years. This year my father-in-law, Mark Holden, is the key-note speaker for the event, and it’s gonna be awesome! He has used our Church as guinea pigs a few Sundays as he has prepared his talks, and let me tell you, this is some great teaching! Also, Anja has a booth and is speaking during a workshop, as well, so both of our families will be attending in force. ๐ I am so excited and looking forward to two days of good teaching and fellowship with all the friends and families we get to connect with each year at convention. It should be interesting with a toddler in tow this year! ๐ Last year Jesse was just a little baby who placidly napped in his stroller most of the weekend. The year before, he was in the womb, and the year before that, Jeremy and I had just started dating! Convention time truly brings back memories!
3. Shop Closed. Shop? What shop? Well, it was my goal and full intention to have launched my very own Etsy shop by the end of this month. Inspired by the positive feedback my Emmeline aprons have received from everyone who sees them, and asked by several people if I was selling them, I decided I would try to get up an inventory and open a little online shop. This was the ‘studio secret’ I have referred to several times in the past month.
But a lot of things have contributed to the idea being laid aside indefinitely. First, I really don’t have the time. I do get a little sewing done here and there, but usually just enough to make the occasional handmade gift or item for myself. It was too much to try and fit in sewing for strangers in this season of my life. I realized that I was really stressing myself mentally and physically as I continued to try each day to get the housework done so I could get into the studio. I have really been having my personal vision clarified and refocused by my reading of “Passionate Housewives”, and I finally realized last week that an online shop just wasn’t in the vision right now. I plan on sharing more of my gleanings and conclusions from that wonderful book in the days to come. Meanwhile, I apologize to those I had said I could sell aprons to – if you look on Etsy there are a few of this same style apron for sale. And the few aprons I was able to complete are being wrapped and saved for gifts. ๐
So, that’s an update on me! If you’re heading to convention this week, I look forward to seeing you there!
Trina, When you get back from convention, be sure to give your mom hug from me for a job well done at homeschooling. Another successful accomplishment on her part – just two more to go! She has committed so much time and dedication to all of her kids. I am proud of her, and I admire her. She and I are so different – her with all the kids and me with none. It’s hard for me to imagine me living life in her mode – but I sure can appreciate her for all she gives to her entire family.
Thanks for the update…I was wondering about the “surprise” in the studio. It sounds very wise to me to wait for the right time – you don’t want to end up resenting your gifts because you pushed yourself into it. ๐>I’m so glad you found a midwife who is close and who you like. Seems like it makes all the diffence in the world – since we all know if mommy isn’t happy then neither is baby ๐>Also…your widget “baby” is looking more, well, babyish. Not so disturbing…:)
Hi, Trina! Glad to hear everything is going well for you! ๐
Glad to see things are going on so well! I shall definitely be looking for aprons like the one in the post – you and Anna over at pleasantviewschoolhouse have really converted me over them! I want a pretty apron! I was thinking of doing my own etsy shop – making cushion covers from a load of scraps I had but I’m so busy at the moment doing my Legal Secretary course.>>Hope things continue to go well and that you and the family have a great time at the convention! God Bless. ๐>>I have a blog spot now! Have moved from Livejournal (I was Katy_did when I commented before.) Loving it!
I love the apron Trina!See you at the convention!
I totally understand what you mean about the Etsy shop. I’ve been trying to finish some things up so I can start one, but we’ll see how soon that will be. ๐
Ok, have to say I love the apron!!! The colors are amazing… but I still like your blue one! Maybe it’s just because I’m partial to blue….
The aprons are gorgeous. But I completely understand your busy season.>>Have fun at the convention! Wish we could be there for church on Sunday but unfortunately it looks like it will be a few weeks before we come over, besides the night of Olivia’s party.
I can’t believe it’s next week already! Can’t wait to see you. I was working on your birthday present yesterday ๐ have a fun week!
