Yesterday we went strawberry picking!

Mom Holden took us and together with Isaiah, Nathanael, and Elise we picked nearly 70 Lbs. of strawberries in just an hour!

And that doesn’t count all the ones we picked and fed to Jesse. ๐ One of our favorite things about this patch is that they spray very minimally and the only rule is that you MUST eat as many berries as you can while you pick!
Since Anja and Olivia leave Sunday morning for Camp for two weeks, Jeremy and I had them for dinner last night. Dessert was
Strawberry Milkshakes!
I blended several scoops of homemade strawberry ice cream,
a few tablespoons of strawberry jam,
frozen strawberries from the freezer from last year,
and some milk.
Garnished with mint and – what else?
a single, perfect, shiny strawberry.
Today is our tinytown’s annual Strawberry Festival. I’m gonna quickly tidy the house, prepare for our Sabbath, finish a sewing project, then bike up to Main St. to watch the parade with Jesse! ๐
We pick in trumansburg, NY – they spray minimally and are very welcoming to children!
Where do you pick? I would really like to find a place with organic berries, but minimally sprayed could work.
Those shakes made my mouth water, just looking at them!!
I must ask myself again….”Why didn’t I have a strawberry shake last night???”
sounds like the *perfect* place to pick strawberries! our local spot does allow eating while picking, but sadly, i think they spray quite a bit. we have yet to go this year, but we’d better hop to it, if we want to get some berries for the freezer!
Oh, those look so good!
