I Feel Like a Short Order Cook

Jesse has developed a mild rash around his little baby mouth, which is an indication of a mild allergy or intolerance of something I’m feeding him. It’s probably that he’s not ready for whatever it is I’m giving him, so I’ve backed off on dairy and wheat, as well as tomato sauce (alas for his baby pallet – he loves spaghetti sauce over suated zucchini with just a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese…) for a while until I can trace what’s making him break out. Meanwhile, this means I am back to preparing two, or sometimes three different things at a meal time (Like when I made pizza the other night – Jeremy’s has whole wheat crust, mine had potato crust, and Jesse’s had no sauce.), and trying to be creative to tempt a baby’s taste buds.
For lunch today he had honeyed carrots – boiled carrots with just a little bit of butter and honey. He ate 1 1/2 carrots, so that was a success.
For breakfast we had porridge – oatmeal that’s been soaked over night with a tablespoon of yogurt before cooking – this makes it more digestible.
And now I’m trying to figure out what to make him for dinner that doesn’t involve cheese, flour, or tomato sauce. I was going to make Stromboli for Jeremy, and a pot of soup (for me). Maybe he will have some form of potatoes…He loves potatoes, and is just getting the hang of his little baby fork.
