Donuts in progress – my mother-in-law, Elise, Sarah, Traci, and Christine began shortly after breakfast and worked all morning to make the donuts fresh for our party. They were great – the ladies, I mean – they came, tied on an aprons, and took orders. Christine coined a new word – “Apronified” to mean, “apron on and ready to work!” Christine fried donuts on the back porch for 3 1/2 hours earning her the title of the “Ultimate Donut Fyer” (next time we will get her TWO friers to cut her time in half!)
Meanwhile, Traci and Sarah decorated…ahh, it was such a delight to delegate this task to two such competent ladies! They transformed our humble little screen porch into a welcoming entry way, complete with a drink station, game table, donut table, and Welcome sign. Everything was just how I had imagined it (but never would have had time to set up all on my own!). My mom contributed three huge bouquets that graced rooms and tables indoors.
It was a lovely evening, and we thank everyone who came, danced, helped us eat gallons of chili and dozens of donuts, brought gifts, and sang praise songs around the campfire, despite the chill in the air. It was a lovely way to ‘christen’ our new house, it feels more homey than ever now that we have filled it with friends.
And to those who couldn’t make it – don’t worry, we had so much fun, we hope to do it all again some day!!!
Erin – how cool! Email me – we should totally get together! trintjerenae@gmail.com
Local? Yes. Rochester area. But I pass through Ovid every couple months to pick up a bulk order at Regional Access in Trumansburg.
Erin – I would love to meet you sometime! I have enjoyed your visits to the blog this week. If and when we do another Open House, consider this your personal invitation! Are you local?
When is “some day”? (Or did I already miss it?!) Your Open House looked and sounded like an absolute blast of a good time! I'm only just starting to get to know you, Trina, but wish I could have been there. Perhaps the Lord will allow our paths to cross at some point. Maybe your next Open House…? ๐ Or maybe an event of our own!
It looks like such a wonderful, warm and friendly time! I so wish we could have come…. but alas I am such a driving wimp, I didn't dare to venture so far into unknown territory. How wonderful that there will be a “next time”… gives me time to work up my nerve;)
And the great part was there were enough leftovers to have after church too !!! Awesome job girls !!!
I totally love the decorations! And my, that is an impressive batch of donuts. =)
I was not going to let those donuts beat me ๐ Definitely took me back to working in the kitchen at camp and frying things up – including donuts…
What a great evening! And I agree with Traci – definitely having too much fun to be taking pictures!
Can't wait to do it again ๐
The party was wonderful!! Dancing was my favorite part I think!! Everything was so beautiful!!
These pictures made me smile! I don't think I took the time to actually look around that day, so it was great to see it all again. And to think that we were all too busy having fun to take any pictures of the guests.. a sign of a truly successful party, lol!
I loved the chili! I don't know if I will ever be able to eat it again without cheese and sour cream! ๐
