Five Minute Friday’s Theme: Backwards…
1 year: I was growing achingly larger with my third child, hoping, hoping it would be a boy so I could name him Seth.
2 years: We were walking through a darling old house, falling in love and praying we’d win it at auction.
6 years: We were falling head-over heels in love and I was ready for a ring.
10 years: I was a young 19, living with my family on the homestead, only dreaming of all that was to come. My days were filled with gardening, tending animals, and sewing for my new obsession – costumes!
16 years: I was living in a tipi, adjusting from city life to the middle of nowhere and learning to love our land.
24 years: I was about 5 when I told my mom I wanted to be an author when I grew up. Back then it was children’s books I wanted to create – I never dreamed I’d author a cookbook!
STOP
It’s amazing to look backwards…I can clearly see the hand of God as He molded my heart and dreams and wrote a story beyond my wildest imaginations. Remembering His faithfulness gives me courage for the future.
Does anyone else do this? I have to give myself 10 min. to write a Five Minute Friday post because of all the interruptions – Jump up to see why the kids are screaming in the studio (they were hiding from tigers). Jump up to plug the laptop in before it runs out of batteries. Jump up to answer the cry for help from the studio ( “Us need this blanket here ’cause us makin’ a house!”). Jump up to check on the youngest who has been put down for a nap but has opinions on the matter. Perhaps I could come up with something more inspired if I waited till bedtime to write? Probably. ๐
That is a neat five minute friday prompt. Sorry I missed it. I like what you did with it. I do the same thing in my head every now and then and marvel at where I was and how far I have come.
Emily Kate – dream big!! writing a book is not the mountain I thought it was – more like a long, slow marathon, but one day at a time we did it. Check out Ann Lamont's book Bird by Bird and Amy Andrew's blog, Blogging with Amy for great advice and inspiration on turning the book that is in you into a reality.
So fun to have a peek back in your life and so jealous you've authored a book, what a dream!
You may have been interrupted a lot, but this was a great post. It is interesting to look back in time and see where we were.
I didn't know we were the same age! I figured you were older than I because you have three children.
Lately I've been putting some pieces together in the puzzle of my life, and like you, seeing that God has not wasted anything and He has not made mistakes in my story. My husband and I are just getting to a spot in life where a lot of different threads are coming together and we are (finally!) getting very clear direction on what God wants us to do with our life. Neat to see you also tracing His hand in your life.
Hugs and happy days to you,
Maria
