I slept through the night last night! No, this is not Jesse speaking – this is his momma, who, somewhere along the path to motherhood, lost the ability to sleep through the night. I’ve only done it a few times since first becoming pregnant with Jesse. My child sleeps better than I do. But last night I didn’t wake once. Let’s not diminish my triumph too much by mentioning that I didn’t fall asleep until midnight, and I woke at 5. That’s a pretty short night, but it still gave me the feeling of having slept deeply and soundly, as I don’t usually get a stretch that long on a normal night. Hey, all you helpful readers with the great ground beef recipes – got any tips on drugging mamma? 🙂
So, I’m starting my day with a good night’s sleep behind me, and – get this – a green smoothie. Sound odd? Well, it sort of is, but reading the book “Green for Life” I became convinced that this would be a great addition to my routine. The basic premise of the book is the benefits of more fresh greens into our diet and that smoothies are the easiest and tastiest way to do this.
Today’s list is packed – food prep and housecleaning for a busy weekend – Friday is the highly anticipated yearly Dance recital that all of my sisters, one brother, and lots of my friends participate in. Saturday Jeremy has a square dance to call that’s 1 1/2 hours away. And to top off the weekend, my cousin Corrie is flying in to visit us! I am really excited, but better go get to work, empowered by my green smoothie and good night’s sleep!
