No, no, no!

“No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member–
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds–
November!“

Thomas Hood

Well, I don’t actually feel that bad about November, but I have always loved this clever little poem! Yes, there will be plenty of days this month that are unbelievably gray and chilly, but I am excited about this month! Our calendar is already filling up fast with visits with friends (both here and there!), concerts (away and at home!) and the excitement of the coming holidays. What do you love about November?

Ah November… I feel about November the same way I feel about September and October. These three months make up what is my favorite time of year. I love the trees in November. So, maybe I'm a little strange. I think it's cool that they are still alive, but we can see them without leaves. My favorite mental image is a full moon rising behind leafless trees. The smell of woodsmoke lingers in the air… Okay. I better not get too into this. Go November! lol

I like November because of Thanksgiving. I like that it's the one holiday that isn't so commercialized that we forget why we celebrate.
We can focus on being thankful and appreciating what we have been blessed with!

I must say I felt that way about November growing up. But now that I have my own house and am in control of the wood stove…my feelings about it have changed somewhat! Snuggling with my husband in front of the wood stove is one of the pleasures November brings. =)

It is a clever poem indeed! I like November because I think of it as a cozy month. I can start croqueting scarves again!!:)

My favorite part of November is Thanksgiving.
I get to see my sister and my nieces and nephew a lot in summer, but as soon as school starts our visits are few and far between ๐Ÿ™ Thanksgiving is a time when I can be sure to have them for a good long visit – makes this auntie happy! ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays for the simple reason that it is all about giving thanks to God for our daily bread and for keeping us in the One True Faith another year! Good enough reason for a party.
