By the time you read this, I’ll be gone for the weekend – I’m joining Jeremy at the ski program this week. It’s gonna be mild enough that we’re gonna get Jesse up on his skis for the first time this year! I’m looking forward to seeing more of Jeremy this weekend than I have for the past few weekends, even if it means spending two days in the ski lodge with two little children! (pray for me!:))
I’m taking along a batch of my new favorite – Cheeseburger Soup. I got the recipe from a friend – one of the best places to find yummy new soup recipes! I’ll be sharing that next week as my second installment in my “Six Weeks of Soup” series.
Another great source for new favorites would be Bernard Clayton’s New Complete book of Breads, Soups, and Stews. My mom has two books by Bernard Clayton and we have found several family favorites from his bread and soup books, so you can imagine my delight to find this huge volume with all the recipes in one place! (the best part was paying $12 instead of $60 for my copy! I love Ollie’s!)
If you find this book at the library or on sale, grab it, and definitely try out the “Velvet Chicken Soup.” And, if you’ve always wanted to learn how to make gourmet breads, this is the place to start! I learned how to make Brioche, french bread, and the yummiest “Pesto Bread” from Mr. Clayton. I still remember our sorrow when my brother’s dog chewed mom’s copy of the soup book…
Can’t wait to see the pictures of Jesse on the slopes, and what a great weekend for it!
