So, how was your weekend? Mine was lovely. I enjoyed getting back to Church (last week I had not felt well enough to attend), and the final summery day before a week of authentic April wet and chill set in. I wore a vintage style dress I made last year, but had not worn since, ’cause it wasn’t nursing friendly. Now I have a chance to wear it for a short while before I grow into maternity sizes!
I used a basic shirt-style dress and redesigned the bodice to have a boat neck collar. It’s very comfy and I wish I had more opportunity to wear it! Here’s my photographer, in his own spiffy outfit – a thrifted linen shirt I found last week.
We BBQed for lunch, then we all took a lovely Sunday afternoon nap. Then Daddy got the bikes out, we buckled the Boy into his ‘bike’, and peddled off. Our route brought us by my in-laws and we picked up a few more bikers – Dad, Elise, Isaiah, and Nathanael. A nice ride around Ovid, then we headed home for dinner.
I made strawberry shortcake for a treat. If you have never had strawberry shortcake as a complete meal, you really should try it! Here’s my recipe. I used strawberries from the freezer, and leftover homemade vanilla ice cream from my birthday. And don’t worry – mommy had a little protein-rich snack before this splurge. ๐
I have a new blog to share with you – Michelle left a comment and I found her blog, When the World Was Asleep. She appears to be a wonderful artist and a good poet, too – you should see what she painted while most of us were asleep last week! She also has a neat post about how she longs for a ‘date life’. Go on over there and see what I’m talking about!
I have been doing a lot of good reading lately, and plan to do some posts on the books I’ve read this week. I have found Paperback Swap to be an excellent source for ‘purchasing’ books that are on my wish-list – all it costs me is the $2.25 shipping! If you have some books to clean off your bookshelf, register at Paperback Swap and join the fun!
I like how you lined up the 4 shots in the middle. It looks really cute–you did a good job. Maybe Anja’s photography skills are rubbing off on you???
I'm glad you enjoyed my blog, and thanks for the mention! I stumbled on yours on one of my rabbit trails and have found it quite interesting. And what a lovely vintage dress you made!
(sorry if you get this comment twice! It didn't seem to work the first time….)
Is it just me, or has the little baby on side bar gotten a little chubbier? Maybe from the Strawberry Shortcake? ๐
"The Boy" really is growing up fast Trina. I was searching for a picture yesterday and scrolling down I ran across one of Sarah holding him back in August. Kids grow up so fast, you blink your eyes and they have grown a little more.
If i had that dress, I'd wear it during the week too! ๐ Your "little man" is growing up so fast…and sweet…how do you keep from cuddling him all day? Oh, that's right – you'd have to catch hin first, and he looks like a boy on the move! ๐
Ohhhh, come to our house!!! I want to see him…..and you ๐
Oh my, that dress is beautiful! Did you use a pattern?
The pearls are the perfect touch… how lovely you look!

I like the one of Jesse under the bridge, very cute. ๐
I love that first picture of Jesse…where he's looking at you under the bridge. The look on his face is so cute! ๐
That sounds like a much better weekend than what we had. On Saturday I got the stomach flu pretty bad, and that canceled all the rest of our plans. Poor Joel! I'm feeling a bit better today, and plan on doing some disinfecting whenever a burst of energy strikes. ๐ Cute dress!
