A bed for a fit for a Princess

Here is how I made bed linens worthy of a princess for only $5…

Found at thrift store – soft, pink and yellow striped sheet, and sunbleached yet sturdy crib bumper. Cut the sheet to recover the bumper. Unpicked the bumper to discover the pattern.

Reassembled the bumper the way it had been made the first time – right sides together, then turning it right sides out – a formidable task, due to the vast length. With folds of fabric and batting shoved up my arm to my shoulder, I felt like I was being eaten by a large, hungry snake.

Found another creamy-soft sheet at the thrift store, used an old crib sheet, cut apart, for a pattern, and made a custom crib sheet to compliment the bumper.

Thanks to my serger, the sheet took a mere 1/2 hour to complete, from cutting out to applying the elastic and finishing the edges.

And here is Claire’s cozy new bed. From her smiles, I take it she likes it.
