We’re Back!

Hey, everybody! We had a great trip and got back last night around 8pm. It was fun to come back and have my inbox full of notes from your comments on the blog! I hope to answer comments and fix the thank you note post soon. But today I have a lot of unpacking to do, plus we’re calling our semi-annual square dance at the B’s barn tonight, so I’m jumping right into the thick of things and I don’t have much computer time today! I’ll be back on Monday with a full report (in pictures, of course) of our trip! Have a great weekend!

Thriving in Survival Mode

I've been in survival mode lately. Those who know me in person have seen the dark circles under my eyes and they are kind enough to ask me how I'm doing when it's obvious the answer will be dark and depressing. I've been crying in public places and … Read More...

Celebrating With Food, or, How to Grill Pizza

We forgot the bacon-wrapped dates. She’d come 1000 miles and brought Shauna Niequest’s book with the famed recipe. We’d made a special trip to Aldi’s just for the goat cheese for that recipe. (In our swimming clothes, fresh off of cliff jumping … Read More...

Books I Read While Writing a Book

My friend, Kristina, taught me that words are like water. Like a well that goes unused for too long, neglecting to use your words can dry them up. Often the way to get yourself out of writer’s block is to just write—anything—to unclog and let the … Read More...

    I am guessing this was Jesse’s first time to the beach. What did he think of the waves? Or was it too cold to get in the water?

Two Weddings and a Book Tour

We headed north on Thursday. It’s my first time driving north since making Alabama my home. It’s crazy how attached we get to this world, isn’t it, considering none of it is really home? I’m leaving “home” to go “home” and always the journey tugs and … Read More...

Bloom {Five Minute Friday}

My garden was two hopeful raised beds with some found dirt piled in and spread around. My hopes of starting a few Zinnia plants were dashed when the cheap packet of seeds I got at Walmart contained nothing but air. Yeah. A few tomato plants, … Read More...

We’re Back!

Actually, we were back four days ago. :) This one of my favorite photos of our trip – Jesse meets the Ocean. Today I’m hopefully going to get into the studio for the first time since we got back, so we’ll have some new album pages soon!
It’s good to be home.
